# Privacy

This is a personal site. It has no accounts, no forms and no advertising. This page says what it records when you visit.

## Analytics

I use PostHog to see which pages get read. It records page views, when you leave a page, and how far down an article you scroll (at 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent). PostHog's standard browser script also records clicks on links and buttons.

Each event carries the technical details a browser normally sends: the page address, the page you came from, your browser and device type, and a rough location worked out from your IP address.

The site is hosted on Vercel, and Vercel Web Analytics counts page views as well. Vercel's analytics does not set a cookie of its own.

## What identifies you

Nothing here asks who you are. PostHog keeps a random identifier in your browser, in a cookie and in local storage, so that visits from the same browser can be counted together. It is not tied to a name or an email address, and I don't try to work out who anyone is.

I don't sell this data and I don't use it for advertising.

## Stored in your browser

PostHog sets one first-party cookie on this domain. Its name starts with ph_ and ends with _posthog, with the site's PostHog project key in between. It holds the random identifier described above, and PostHog keeps a copy of the same data in your browser's local storage.

If you pick a light or dark theme, that choice is also saved in local storage, under the name theme, so the site remembers it. It is never sent anywhere.

You can delete the cookie and the local storage entries from your browser settings at any time. The site works the same without them.
